About Marissa

Marissa is a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist accredited through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Throughout her years of working with a variety of populations, diseases and conditions, she’s come to recognize and appreciate the need for individualized care for each and every one of her clients. “We all have our own goals, desires, needs, challenges and barriers that we face and I feel that it’s my duty to guide, support and motivate others throughout their journey to total wellness.”

In an over-stimulated society and an abundance of faulty information, knowledge truly is power when it comes to health. For a long time, our world has been heavily dosed with conventional, western medicine that focuses primarily on masking symptoms as opposed to identifying and treating root causes. Anti-depressants and statins have been tossed at us like candy mints; but probiotics, acupuncture and yoga are yet to be recognized and accepted by medical insurances as successful disease prevention and holistic treatments. Regardless, we are in fact approaching a pivotal time where many are waking up to rediscover the validity of ancient, functional medicine.

Marissa has an undeniable passion for gut health and through her private practice, ‘Nutrition with Marissa’, she primarily focuses on those who suffer from microbiome imbalances. “By assessing the imbalance of the trillions of microbes in our GI tract, we can identify the root cause of the client’s pathologies and easily connect the myriad of symptoms that the client may be experiencing.” Marissa strives to empower her clients with holistic approaches to cultivate a balanced mind, body and soul connection. Integrating functional foods, herbal supplementation, and assessing life-style behaviors and habits are all part of reaching a state of optimal well-being and vitality.
