How to Get Rid of Clogged Ears

1 of 3

Has your hearing become muffled? Fortunately, in many cases, it may have nothing to do with your actual hearing ability. Often it is simply due to a clogged ear, which refers to a blockage in the ear canal.

Symptoms of a clogged ear include reduced hearing capacity, a popping sensation in your ear, a windy sound inside the ear, and a feeling of having mucus or liquid within the ear.

You can get a clogged ear when the Eustachian tube does not open and close properly to regulate and equalize the pressure between the middle ear and the pressure in the atmosphere outside the ear.

Common factors that can cause clogged ears are wax buildup, air flow blockage to the Eustachian tubes, pressure differences in the middle ear, and cold and sinus problems. Clogged ears can affect people of all ages, but is most common among children, especially when they have colds.

As well as being annoying, a clogged ear can be quite painful. It’s important to treat it early. There are many natural treatments that you can use to unclog ears.

how to get rid of clogged ears

Here are the top 10 ways to get rid of clogged ears.

1. Valsalva Maneuver

You can easily get rid of clogged ears by performing the Valsalva maneuver. It will relieve stuffiness and pain in the ear.

  1. Close your mouth and pinch your nostrils closed with your fingers, then take a deep breath.
  2. Blow air out of your nose to regulate the air pressure. If done correctly, you will hear a slight popping sound which means the Eustachian tubes are open again.

Note: Don’t blow your nose too hard as it may cause damage to the ear drum.

2. Olive Oil

For clogged ears due to a buildup of wax inside the ears, you can use olive oil. Olive oil will help soften ear wax so you can easily remove it.

  1. Gently warm some pure olive oil.
  2. Use a dropper to put a few drops of the lukewarm olive oil in the affected ear.
  3. Allow it to settle for 10 minutes so that the earwax becomes soft.
  4. Keep your head sideways and remove the oil and ear wax with ear buds. Do this very gently so you don’t hurt the delicate organ.

You can also use baby oil or mineral oil in place of olive oil.

3. Alcohol and Apple Cider Vinegar

To destroy any kind of bacterial infection that may be causing clogged ears, you can use a combination of alcohol and apple cider vinegar.

  1. Mix equal amounts of alcohol and apple cider vinegar.
  2. Lie down on your side and use a dropper to put a few drops of this mixture in the affected ear.
  3. To keep the mixture from spilling out, place a cotton ball in the ear and do not raise your head.
  4. Rest for five to 10 minutes to allow the mixture to do its work.
  5. Remove the earwax with an ear bud.
  6. If the other ear is also clogged, repeat the process with the other ear.

4. Warm Compress

A warm compress is a very good natural treatment for clogged ears associated with colds or sinus congestion. The heat from a warm compress will help loosen congestion, unclog the ear and ease the pain.

  • Soak a washcloth in warm water, wring out the excess water and then hold the washcloth over the affected ear for five to 10 minutes. This will help to ease pain and promote fluid drainage.
  • Alternatively, you can wrap a hot water bottle in a thin towel and apply it to the clogged ear for five to 10 minutes to relieve the pressure and open up the clogged ear.

5. Steam

Inhaling steam is one of the simplest ways to get rid of clogged ears resulting from a cold. The steam will help thin and loosen the mucus, which in turn will give you relief from clogged ears. Steam can also help loosen earwax causing clogging.

  1. Pour hot steaming water in a large bowl.
  2. Add a few drops of tea tree oil or lavender essential oil to it.
  3. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam slowly until the clogged ear opens up.

You can also take a hot shower for about 10 minutes to relieve clogged ears.

6. Hydrogen Peroxide

You can use hydrogen peroxide to unclog ears blocked by wax accumulation.

  1. Using a dropper, put two drops of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide in the affected ear.
  2. You will hear fizzing within a few minutes. Wait 10 minutes or until the fizzing stops.
  3. Then tilt your head to let the solution and earwax drain out.

Note: Do not use hydrogen peroxide in excess as it can cause harm to your ear drums.

    1. True.If u Yawn at some point u will feel Some pain in ur ear and ull start hearing from the side it’s Clogged. This should work.

    1. Never use those! They have been proven to not work whatsoever! It can also cause burns and more issues to your ear than actually fixing the problem.

      1. Your so WRONG. I have been using earl Candles for many years to remove ear wax. It DOES work and if done right it will NOT burn your ears. When buying ear candles READ instruction and use a aluminum pie plate to catch the ash. IT DOES WORK…… Renee

        1. I think your spot on Renee …. The candles work wonders, but yes they aren’t always gonna be for everyone!!…. after all people will complain about anything 🙂

      2. I agree Nagem. I actually tested an ear candle burning by itself. Aha! It produced the same brownish golden earwax not even burned near my ear! I was skeptical and hopeful that it indeed was my ear wax from the first trial, but was not convinced since I didn’t feel a pulling sensation like I thought I would. That is what led me to test it burning alone. I say scam. Surprised I haven’t heard of more people comparing what it looks like if they burned it alone. Perhaps they have an even different wax result than I had. However, mine sure looked like ear wax when burned far far away from my ear.

    2. If you ear candle properly, it works no burn. Kinda lije lighting a scented candle properly to inhance good aroma in your home. If you do it right no burn. We have been ear candling for 8 years and ut has worked great. Holistic, when possible, is usually the best way to go. Not always. Use an aluminum tray with hole cut out and a towel.

    3. Ear candles have not been proven to actually work. In fact they have been proven to be quite dangerious due risk of burning the ear or catching hair on fire.

      1. I’m sure they have if you don’t properly use them. I’m sure sticking warm water in your ear could cause damage also. In the event someone shouldn’t be following this advise and has tubes in their ears?! What works for some, may not work for others! Criticism is NOT nessesary! I’ve seen ear candles work on several people. If you understand HOW TO PROPERLY DO SOMETHING and it works for you, go to it! Don’t down people for what works for them! That’s just wrong!

        1. Are you kidding? A shower must be out of the question for you if your worried about injuring your ear drum. Note to self, never wash again because I might not be able to hear. Mum, i’ve being doing wrong all my life. A bit of common sense is the way to go.

        2. They have proven that ear candles are nothing but a terrible thing. It often leaves MORE residue in the ear than what originally was there as well as all the other possible damaging effects. The “ear wax” you see also shows up when you burn the candle just sitting over a glass cup and suctioned… did the ear wax magically appear? No… it’s part of the candle. DON’T EVER DO THIS. TERRIBLE

          1. I agree. Even the FDA has put out warnings about these things. What you see in the “ear candle” is >not< "your" ear wax…It may heat up your ear canal, causing the wax to soften up, drain out, clearing your ear a bit – but it in no way "sucks up" the wax from your ear and can actually drain wax from the thing INTO your ear. Ridiculous idea. As for the "holistic" comment someone made above, most "holistic" treatments are nothing but feel-good wives tales sold to the moron hippies out there who are afraid of anything and everything around them. Some people…Sheesh.

          2. Dear Rachel, your so WRONG. I have been using ear candles for my self and a few friends. We buy the best soy candles. follow directions, NO residue ever went into our ears, never burn them all the way down. When I opened them up there was REAL wax inside, checked by a lab to confirm. It’s not a terrible thing, your just over reacting. I have been ear candleing my ears for 18years and get enough wax out to be able to hear again……. My girlfriend who has MS has horrible pain in her ears. And when we do the canceling her PAIN is GONE…… Smarten up. If it didn’t work why would it be gaining in popularity….

    4. Ear candling is a total HOAX!! There are close to 25 studies that prove it does not remove earwax at all! At very best it will slightly warm earwax. There are several methods to, not slightly warm, but melt earwax to drain it that don’t involve open flames near your head or melted candle wax clogging your inner ear! Ear candles are nothing but a cheap candle maker scam!

  1. I went swimming yesterday morning. I’ve been plugged up since. I tried the closed-mouth/closed-nostril inhale but failed. I don’t get how to do that! But I get the trapped moisture thing, so I used my finger to push on the front ear and then tip my head sideways. I got slight relief. So I’ll try the drying drops next. then wear ear plugs from now on! thanks for your page on this. best one I found.

    1. Be careful when doing this nostril blowing valsalva maneuver. It can make your blood pressure drop…ever hear of people especially the old, found dead on the toilet?? This as a result of pushing to crap…which in turn lowers bp, and bam hit the floor..while I agree it does work, it’s got issues to be aware of as any other remedy

      1. Nita- I cannot imagine anyone blowing their nose so hard that their BP drops! The process of “popping” your ears requires a very gentle blow!

        1. Any forceful pressure can cause a blood pressure spike, and aneurysm. Especially in high blood pressure patients and the elderly! Soooo….yeah, believe it!

        2. The blowing the ear thing does lower bp that’s what they teach u to do if u have tachycardia (heart rate issues) to lower pulse rate and bp before they use pills to reduce. I know this bc it was the er that taught this to me when I went in with a tachycardic episode. Don’t believe me look it up.

    2. Aftrer read your comment, I tried with push my finger on front ear and made my head sideways, it really worked, Thanks for the good tips.

      1. Wow, I tried several things, nothing worked. And tried the finger on the ear and then tilting head sideways… Worked like magic!

      2. I want to try the remedy- pushing finger on ear and tilt head. What part of outer ear do you put pressure on? I’ve tried warmed baby oil, leave in ear 4 ten mins then tilt head, wax should loosen up an work its way out.

    3. Whenever my ears clogged with water from swimming, I’d stand on one leg (use the left if you’re trying to unclog the left ear and the right for the right) and tilt your head down to your shoulder (left ear down and stand on left leg). Jump around a bunch of times. It sounds silly. But it works!

    4. The pushing ear and tilting my head sideways helped tremendously , thank you. It turns out there was remaining water trapped in my ear from when I added warm water and tea tree oil minutes ago and not all the water come out from doing that.

    5. Thank you for posting this, I put a little pressure on my ear and tilt my head to the side. My clogged ear unclog.. I tried the breathing also to no avail…again thanks..wow

    6. Your inhale then plug your nose and close mouth then act like you are blowing out ….. Don’t always work for water clog but mostly efficient when changing elevation

  2. NEVER EVER use hydrogen peroxide…
I had a bad ear infection to a ruptured ear and let me tell you i didnt know at the time that it was soo bad. when i walked into the docs office they told me the following
    1) Never put water in your ear,
    and
    2) Never put hydrogen peroxide in your ear

the reasons. Water: (which i had done only cuz i thought it was just clogged wax at the time take out alot… of some of the stuff you need.) IT HURT LIKE HELL! if any just let the pros do it. but if it is infected… then DONT DO THIS

hydrogen peroxide: kills both good and bad cells. hence is what you hear popping…

if it is still clogged after a nice shower then just go to the doc. saves you the pain TRUST ME

    1. also don’t put things in your ear , if anything just hot showers and steam will fix it … tylenol can help loosen it if its drainy… It dries it up. if that doesnt work then go to the doctor.

the only time you should use water is clearing out wax. but even then yeah can be a bad idea considering you dont know how bad your ear is… so just go to the doc.

    2. i used Warm luke water in my ear with its muffled by wax. i have not ever gotting a ear infection from used luke warm tap water to clean my ear. it works like a charm every time. So i don’t know what you’re talking about.

    3. I have excessive ear wax buildup…I’ve had to get it removed at the docs before. They took an aspirator(infant mucus remover apparatus!) and warm water and cleaned it out by spraying the water in my ear for a few minutes. Worked immediately! I’ve had some success doing the same thing at home…just make sure it’s not too hot, inside the ear is very temp sensitive. And obviously don’t spray directly at the eardrum. Good luck.

    1. Take a deep breath in and hold your nose and try and breath out through your nose, if you think about it… It’s pretty simple

    2. Yes I think the directions were not really clear. I was do no different things that didn’t work. Then I did this: take a deep breath and then close your mouth and pinch your nostrils closed. Try to breathe out of your nose. Not too hard, just gently focus on trying to push air out through your nose. Both my eardrums opened up.

      1. HELLO PAT!

YEAH, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I SAT HERE AT MY COMPUTER, DID WHAT YOU SAID AND BOTH MY EARS POPPED OPEN!

        SO THANKFUL FOR YOUR ADVICE!

      2. This is also a good way to equalise the pressure when diving under water and for those who suffer on aircraft journeys. Just keep doing it every so often on ascent and descent.

      1. I don’t understand why you have to be so rude. The instructions were not that clear on how to do it. Why do you have to be arrogant about it? Does that make you feel better about yourself or something? Why not just help someone understand or be kind?

    1. Beth, that’s because you blew too hard. The same thing happened to me. Do it slowly …your ear will pop – open your mouth and let out the air. When you feel like the air is coming through your eyes (weird feeling – like your eye is going to pop out), it’s because your doing it too hard. Hope this helps!

  3. My boyfriend had a plugged ear for a week.. Told him to go to Docs to get it clinics always closed. Told he has to totally go this week.. In the mean time gave him one shot of peroxide in his ear as my Cerumol was out and a hot towel on his ear. Will this help?

    1. sorry with the typo’s I meant to say he could not make the walk in clinics.. Any suggestions that will work until Monday and hopefully he can get his ear fixed up.

  4. I had a blocked ear because I pushed the wax deeper into my ear and then I used the second method with the olive oil and it worked!! Thanks a lot!!

  5. Wow, thanks! The Valsalva Maneuver helped me! But be careful, don’t blow too hard, instead, blow multiple times but gently. 🙂

  6. I have a cold and both of my ears are clogged my right ear hurts a lot and my left ear is just fine I’m about to go take a achoo shower

  7. my right ear is clogged my mom said the method to pinch the nose and let out the air out of ear i tried but it feels likr my ears going to hurt a lot so i felt not doing that but ill try
ill even try differt methods to open my ear thats for this ..

  8. My right ear is clogged cause a while back I used one of those new qtips that r designed to keep u from entering into the ear. These new qtips are highly in effective and push wax in rather than allowing u to enter enough to scoop out excess wax. I’m going to try the olive oil and steam.

  9. Be careful to know what the ear issue before trying some of these. They will work depending on the situation….but in my case my left ear has issues getting rid of and circulating fluid. If I added water flushes, oils, or other things above to try and help, it could easily make it much worse. So just cautious and aware first.

I’ve found out ears are annoyingly delicate from experience (sigh)

    1. i have the same exact issue with my right ear and some people don’t believe me. I always go to an ear doctor and have them do it for me because of this. I have to go on Monday because it became clogged after i went into the ocean.

  10. I woke up in the morning with a clogged ear and tried the nose pinch method luckily it didn’t work so I tried the apple cider vinegar mixed with achohol and it magically wirked

  11. Sometimes tugging on the ear lobe gently in a downward and slightly outward motion, or sideways away from the body, will open a blocked ear. Also for blockage caused by sinus drainage, take a few wafts or sniffs of Medical Grade Peppermint Essential Oil and that should open the sinuses and help relieve the blockage as well. It can also help with a sinus infection though there are other oils that also work well.

  12. I had a blocked up ear together with sore throat and other cold symptoms, so I tried the hot compress. Poured hot water onto a towel (didn’t have a wash cloth) and lay with the affected ear on top of it for a few minutes. Still a bit sore in there but it did clear the ear, thank god as I was previously feeling dizzy every time I stood up!

  13. Ok. Step one is close your mouth and pinch your nostrils shut. Then take a deep breath??? Lol, I’m assuming you’ll have to either open your mouth or unpinch your nostrils. Just thought it was funny the first time I read it. 🙂

  14. Well I tried most of the ways but I most likely have an ear infection (had many of them in the past) so I am out of ideas but going to the doctor. Another case must be because of allergies in the spring.

  15. Take a deep breath first and then pinch your nostrils and then blow out, some of the air would only escape through the ear.

    1. its not the outside of your ear that you are pushing out, its the tubes from your ears to your neck where mucus collects that you push out of your inner ear into your throat, earwax collects on the outer side of the eardrum, you cannot clear it by pinching your nose and blowing, thats why they say dont blow too hard, you can rupture your eardrums

  16. My daughter just had this ear problem, now I came across your remedy or tips, Am really grateful for this wonderful tips. I love this site its an educative site, thanks.

  17. I have ear problem from cold and can’t hear a thing. These tips look good. As others did not open my ear I think I will try steam tomorrow….to see if that works! But thanks for great solution methods…

  18. I read a tip about resting your ear on a hot water bottle to soften the wax. My ears get quite firm wax. I tried the hot water bottle today, and it worked, although I had to use the hot water bottle for about an hour to get anywhere. It wasn’t till after I had my head upright again that a bit of finger wiggling at the opening made the wax come out. I think there’s still more to come, so I might have to do another session tomorrow, but for now, it’s much better!

  19. Absolutely do not use olive oil to clear your ear! Trying this caused fluid to get behind my eardrum, resulting in an infection. If you have muffled hearing, it may not be earwax. Go see a doctor!

  20. If I have cold and sinus problems, where congestion and mucus are causing my left ear to feel clogged, I would want to choose a safe remedy. I also tried laying on my back to let pressure go to my head and as I yawn in bed, it seems to work too. But it’s awesome seeing remedys more n more

  21. I’ve had a muffled blocked sensation in both ears for approx 10 years.
It fluctuates with no pain along and affects my ability to hear what people are saying.
I’ve had ear examinations and an MRI scan and still not received a satisfactory diagnosis from a doctor.
I’ve learnt just to live with it but would appreciate help from anyone else in the same predicament.

    1. Have you seen an ear, nose & throat doctor? After many years of issues with ears & now with my daughter’s ears, by far an ENT doc is best equipped to handle things. Your issue sounds exactly like my daughter’s, I would ask for an ear wax removal. They flush with warm water to soften & loosen in order to remove gently and safely. Wax build up could explain the muffled sound without pain. Since the wax can shift over time, that could explain the intermittence of severity. It’s very likely that you couldn’t do this on your own, due to the amount of time you’ve been suffering, the build up could be substantial. Good luck.

    2. I have left ear blockage & sinus congestion….I get a pinched nerve that is blocking hearing! Amazing a good cracking at the Chiropractor eliminates the problem 95% of the time!!

  22. My ears open up, and then they feel clogged again a few minutes later. I’ve gargled water, done the hold my nose thing, used my ear syringe (from an ear doctor) to put warm water in, used peroxide, taken a hot shower and inhaled steam. They all fix it but a minute or two later it’s back again. Hope it fixes itself soon

    1. both my ears seem like yours, i can open them up with a couple drops of olbas oil in hot water inhale the steam through my nose, only to feel clogged 30 mins later. the nurse at doctors ( u cant get to see a doc) said my ears look nice & healthy. ive been suffering 3 months now. after reading coments & tried some out im still the same.

  23. Thank you all for your many different ideas, I have clogged ears for a week now, so I am going to try a few things. Again, what works for some, may not for others, thank you for all the GREAT ideas.

  24. After an 9 hr flight , my ears were literally screaming. Suffered the whole day wuth a clogged ear due to flu. Try continuously yawning in short intervals. Helped me

  25. the first one worked for me.. just hold ur nostrils tight and then blow air with ur mouths closed..do not allow ur breath come out of ur mouth. Make ur mouth like a balloon itself till ur breath reaches ur ear.. u ‘ll hear a great popping sound in ur ears..and blockage is gone..which was because of severe cold. But don’t breath very hard in ur mouth..or it can hurt u…
but Thnku so much for this idea..it really worked…

  26. I blew my nose a little too hard, clogged my ear up bad. I tried about 5 of these that I could do with what I have available. Nothing was working, the warm rag offered a little relief, but wasn’t fixing the problem. Decided to smoke a bowl, (in legal state) thought maybe coughing would help and that would make me cough. Within 5 min my ear was back to normal. So in the end, if these rnt working, cough pretty good for a short time.

  27. I have been candling ears for years. I buy them from a woman in Qld ….and if it’s done correctly it’s very effective .
The other info has been good to know also…

  28. First of all, don’t try to nullify treatments by saying that the FDA doesn’t endorse it. Do a little research and you’ll find that all the governmental alphabet agencies, like the FDA, are not here to protect you. They have been formed to control and mislead you. Vaccinations are a perfect example of this. Info is now coming out about how harmful they are, but the FDA endorses them. Hmmmm.

Secondly, for whoever said that all holistic remedies are old wive’s tales or something like that, you are so brainwashed by big pharma you are beyond help. Holistic medicine was around long before big pharma took over and started poisoning everyone’s minds with b.s. so that they could poison everyone’s bodies with drugs to make $$. That is what drug companies are all about,,,,,making big bucks. Wake up.

Lastly, I’ve had problems with earwax since I was a child and have had ENT’s clean them out, which caused a high fever. I’ve also used ear candles and they worked, as have other holistic treatments I’ve used. And I’m not saying they work because of the brown stuff that you could see after using them, I’m saying they work because they opened up my ears. Even if you choose to remain a sheep and use drugs for everything, you have to use them wisely. Same with holistic treatments.

    1. yes! someone with a brain on here!!! I totally agree with on on the pharma….big rip off!!! And the Flu-shot? my god!!! everyone is already brain dead in America…lets make them more…to kill them off faster….just a scam. I am holistic as well and some remedies that worked in the Egyptian times is good enough for me…not some fast drug that has only been on the market for 20 yrs. Apple Cider vinegar is so healthy for many reasons and cheap!!! I loved your blog

  29. Great, I did Valsalva maneuver and I can hear again from my ear. I did it several times smoothly and felt some liquid in my throat. I’m gonna use a steamy shower now to make sure it will not come back again. Thanks guys

  30. I had a stopped up ear and tried most remedies and none worked. I bought an ear wax removal kit and no luck. So I took the saringe and filled several times with hot water and while pulling down on my lobe would insert the saringe and squirting hard. WOW, it worked. Now I can hear again.

  31. I just woke up at 3am and I couldn’t believe one of my ears was not earing properly… only to realise it was a clog…I have tried to close my ears and mouth, then after a deep breathe it has somehow opened. Thanks a lot

  32. I have had clogged ears for years now since being diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis and silent reflux. The ENT and primary doctors look at me like I am crazy when I tell them that they are clogged. I believe that it is mucous or fluid. They don’t really hurt but can get uncomfortable and it can throw your balance off especially when working out or turning your head too fast. I can hear a clicking sound when I try to pop them but no success.Praying for relief for all of us!

  33. U all have it wrong, candles lol. You guys are all putting each other down who’s wrong who’s right and u know what, with all the HOT HEADs this debate has caused u guys have melted all the wax in yr heads, problem solved,,,,,

  34. Regarding the use of ear candles~Before becoming a nurse, I worked in the O.R. as a surgical technologist/First Assist with my speciality being ENT (eyes, nose, throat).
Our most seasoned surgeon of 20+ years, highly advised AGAINST the use of ear candles.
The debris given off as the candle burns can cause more ear canal build up and thus increasing the risk of further damage.

Do what you will with this information. I appreciate and support holistic, Natural remedies but we must be sensible. Just because something is organic or all natural doesn’t make it safe. Keep in mind poison ivy is 100% all natural!

  35. Warm baby oil in problem ear, leave 10 mins. Then tilt head , oil will loosen wax then out it comes. Works for me.

  36. I suffer at least one ear infection a year, even though I try to keep the wax minimized (with Debrox, etc.). This time it felt like it was almost done and then completely relapsed, which is even more maddening. I felt like I was teased and then had my dream torn away.

I think I have issues with Eustachian tube issues because I feel build up, become water logged, feels like the ear canal swells (probably because I can’t stop myself from trying to re-open by every means) and then finally I am unable to hear from that ear. It sometimes feels like someone glued my ear canal closed.

Today I tried something (that I read elsewhere) and it seems EXTREMELY helpful. Take 2 wash clothes, wet them down with hot water, wring out excessive water (but not too much). Put them both on a plates an microwave them for about a minute (you will get a hang of how much time feels right for you). Put each one in a separate cup and hold them against your head with one around each ear (for at least a couple minutes until you feel the steam cool).

IMPORTANT: Make sure the cups are deep enough so the wash rags don’t touch your ears. It is the steam effect that helps, not physical contact.

I found this sooooooooooooo soothing and vowed to spread the word. I was up last night looking at every possible path to relief and I feel for anyone else going though that pain. I did this once an hour for a total of 4 times today and my ear is open. It was totally sealed shut when I got up this morning (if you consider what I did last night as “sleeping”).

I really hope this helps at least one person, as I know the madness that comes with clogged ears. No one can truly understand the mental state a clogged ear can bring unless that have been unlucky enough to have suffered one.

If this works for you, please pass it on.

    1. Thank you Jim for sharing this info! My ears have been stopped up for over 3 weeks. I’m on my second round of antibiotics and had a steroid shot last week, none of which has worked. I’ve also tried peroxide, alcohol, vinegar mixtures and none of those worked for me either. But the info you shared WORKED!!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!

  37. Have just given this a go and hey think it may have helped. Can certainly do no harm apart from my hubby walking in on me and thinking I have finally gone totally nuts.. Will try again in an hour

  38. All of these but one, are not good to do. 3 years ago I had a severe block in my left ear, and had to go to the E.R. The size of the build up that was removed looked like an alien and when they were done, the doc used a peroxide AND warm water flush afterward. He said and I quote, “never use anything BUT this solution to clear out your ears. oils only build up as fast as the build up initially does.”

  39. My boyfriend is a chiropractor and whenever my ears feel clogged he adjusts them. You can feel them drain afterwards and it really helps. If you see a chiropractor for back stuff maybe ask them if they can do your ears as well when you go in (Warning: it’s the most uncomfortable adjustment in my opinion. But I’m also a big baby when I get adjusted)

  40. Most of the previous solutions work for some people. But here’s one that I use. Open your mouth and
drop your jaw as far as you can make it go. Then move your jaw from side to side as far as you can make it go. You can feel the feel your ears pop. Good luck
