Cracked feet look unattractive and in some cases, it can even bleed and lead to infection and extreme pain. Cracked feet can be easily taken care of with some simply and easy home remedies.

Here are top 10 ways to heal Cracked Feet.

  1. Warm Water

Before going to bed, take half a bucket of warm water and add some liquid soap in it. Now soak your feet in this warm soapy water for about twenty minutes. The dead skin cells will become loose which you can now get rid of by scrubbing the area with a pumice stone. Try to do it gently or else the skin will get irritated. Finally rinse off your feet with clean water, pat dry them with a soft towel and finally apply some foot cream or moisturizer. Wear a pair of clean cotton socks and in the morning you will find your feet in a better condition. Follow this remedy daily until the cracked feet are healed completely.

  2. Drinking Water

One of the reasons behind cracked feet is dehydration. This is why it is very essential to make all efforts to keep your body well hydrated. You can easily control dryness and dehydration by drinking more water. Make it a habit to drink at least eight to ten glasses of water every day. Water will help to keep your skin soft and supple and soon the problem of cracked feet will get solved. Along with water you can also increase the intake of fruits and vegetables having higher water content. Also avoid tea, coffee and alcohol consumption as it can lead to dehydration.

  3. Lemon

Lemon juice has a very mild natural acidic property and thus it can be used to get rid of dead and dry skin cells from around your feet. Add some lemon juice to warm water and soak your feet in this solution for a few minutes and then gently scrub the feet with the help of a soft foot brush. After that wash and dry your feet completely and apply some moisturizer on your feet thoroughly. Another option is to make a mixture of lemon juice and papaya and apply it on the cracked heels, allow it to sit for fifteen minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Follow this remedy for cracked heels once in a week to get positive results.

  4. Banana

Take one or two overripe bananas and blend them in a blender to form a thick and creamy paste. Wash your feet properly and then apply this smooth banana paste on it. Allow it to sit for about fifteen minutes and then wash your feet thoroughly with lukewarm water and cold water alternatively. Soon you will have smooth and silky feet. You can follow this simple cracked feet home remedy on a daily basis to prevent and treat dry and cracked heels. Instead of banana, ripe papaya can also be used to treat cracked feet.

  5. Paraffin Wax

To cure cracked heels, you can use paraffin wax. Take paraffin wax and heat it along with some mustard oil or coconut oil to make a smooth paste.  After scrubbing the dry skin cells from the feet, apply this paste on the cracks before going to bed. Then cover your feet properly by wearing a pair of socks and next morning wash your feet properly. Follow this remedy for about a week or two to enjoy smooth feet minus the ugly cracks.

    • A woman has other obligations in the night towards her husband which take almost 30 minutes. You are too tired after every hectic session to give another 30 mins to your feet when your legs already pain from being in the air. I am sorry for the explicit details but this is the reality.Husbands do not want to do overtime in the morning!

      • Shilpa Sen,

Hi, it’s 2013 now. Women are not an object with obligations. We are individuals with equal rights and free will. That’s ignorant to say otherwise. This post is about fixing FEET. Go be inappropriate somewhere else.

      • Instead of keeping your legs and feet in the air and enduring that indignity try getting on all fours whilst spreading knees as far as possible all while reaching back and massaging lotion on feet and killing two birds with one stone.

      • Shilpa – move into the 21st century – “Women” do not have “obligations” – seriously … take care of yourself – and that was far from explicit … I think however you may want to seek some counseling for your “lonely housewife” life and realize that women can be independent, like others on here, this type of post is not welcome.

        • Maybe Shilpa is from the 22 century when men have put down the female rebellion and women are again required to please their men? :-)

      • Shilpa,
If this is the nature of your relationship, and you choose to submit to your husband in a traditional way, who are we to judge? That said, maybe it would be easier to set aside some time during the day to tend to your feet. You are worth it.

  15. This is one of the funniest threads I’ve ever read. I read it to my wife and got a great Sunday morning belly laugh out of this. I went hunting for ways to solve her cracked feet and I found out that lots of “feet in the air” and “on all fours” sex seems to cure it based on this thread. I don’t smoke Mark so do you recommend any other place setting for the other cheek?

My wife is dying laughing while I type this. Thanks for the humor guys!

  17. I resent you are saying this is from improper foot care, I have been fighting this problem continually for years. I have been using every known foot cream and/or prescriptions daily, up to three times a day. My husband made a comment recently that I acted like I had athletes foot, after seeing podiatrists forever. I started using athletes foot cream, and low and behold, it is finally clearing up. I have what is a know as moccasin foot. And it is finally, healing!! Don’t blame it all on improper foot care.,

Treat that and start taking probiotics religiously as well as staying away from sugar. I say this because when you mentioned you used athlete’s foot cream and it cleared up. That is a sure sign if candida overgrowth. Good luck! !
