A boil, called a furuncle in medical terms, is an acute infection of a hair follicle. It is also known as skin abscess.
Boils can occur on the inner thighs as well as on the face, armpit, back of the neck, throat, groin and buttocks. Simply put, boils are small bumps with white or yellow centers that can spread to other skin areas. They tend to become painful and increase in size in a few days when pus builds up.
They are mostly caused by the staphylococcal bacteria. Plus, factors like a damaged hair follicle, weak immune system, infected sweat glands, harsh chemicals, poor hygiene, poor nutrition and chronic diseases, such as diabetes make you more susceptible to developing boils.
Most boils can be treated at home, including those on the inner thighs. Home treatments for boils are simple, yet highly effective.
However, if your boil is resistant to treatment, does not heal within 2 weeks, is extremely painful, or causes a fever then consult your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Here are the top 10 ways to get rid of a boil on the inner thigh.
Contents
1. Warm Compress
The easiest way to quickly get rid of a boil on your inner thigh is to use heat applications. Warm compresses applied on the affected skin increase blood circulation and allow the antibodies and white blood cells to fight the infection faster.
- Soak a cloth in warm water, squeeze out the excess water and press it over the boil.
- Do this repeatedly throughout the day until the boil erupts and the pus drains out.
- Clean the area thoroughly and apply a medicated ointment to prevent any further infection.
When dealing with a Bartholin gland cyst, also called a Bartholin duct cyst, occuring just inside the opening of the vagina, take a warm sitz bath. More often than not, these cysts heal on their own without treatment.
2. Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is an excellent natural remedy for boils on inner thighs because of its strong antiseptic, antibacterial antifungal properties.
- Soak a cotton swab in tea tree oil. Dab it on the affected area. Do this a few times daily until the boil is healed.
- Another option is to mix a few drops of tea tree oil in a bowl of warm water. You can also mix a little lavender oil in it. Soak a washcloth in the solution and use it as a compress on the affected skin for about 10 minutes. Repeat several times a day.
3. Turmeric
The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric can speed up the healing process of a boil on your inner thigh. The compound curcumin in turmeric also helps relieve pain.
- Mix some turmeric powder and enough water to make a thick paste. (You can also make a paste by mixing turmeric powder, milk cream and vinegar.) Apply the paste on the boil and leave it on for at least 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off. Repeat a few times a day. It will help the boil come to a head and burst within a few days.
- You can also add 1/2 or 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of milk, boil it and drink it twice daily to get relief from the inflammation and pain caused by the boil.
4. Onion
Onions have antiseptic properties that help fight skin infection and speed up the healing process. When the juice of the onion comes in contact with the infected area, it acts as an irritant as well as an antimicrobial agent. This helps draw out the heat from the boil and promote eruption. It also helps reduce inflammation and alleviates pain.
- Cut a fresh onion into thick slices.
- Put the onion slices on the boil and cover them with a cloth.
- Change the onion slices every 2 to 3 hours until the boil erupts and drains.
5. Neem
Due to its natural antiseptic and antibacterial qualities, neem, also known as Indian lilac and margosa, is another effective natural cure for boils on inner thighs.
- Wash and grind a handful of neem leaves into a paste. You can also add some turmeric powder. Apply this paste on the affected area and leave it on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off. Do this a few times a day.
- Another option is to boil some neem leaves in a pan filled with water until most of the water evaporates and 1/3 of it remains. Cool and strain the solution. Rinse the affected area with this neem-infused water a few times a day.
6. Epsom Salt
Epsom salt helps bring a boil to the head and speed the drainage of the bacteria. Plus, being highly absorbent, it helps draw out toxins and impurities from the skin.
- Dissolve ¼ cup of Epsom salt in 2 cups of warm water. Dip a clean washcloth in the solution and place it on your boil. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat a few times daily until the boil begins to drain.
- Alternatively, take a sitz bath in warm water mixed with a cup of Epsom salt. Do this for 15 to 20 minutes, 2 or 3 times daily for a few days.
7. Cornmeal
Cornmeal can come to your rescue when you want to quickly get rid of a boil on your inner thigh. The absorptive properties present in cornmeal help treat boils.
- Mix a spoonful of cornmeal with enough hot water to make a thick paste.
- Apply the paste on the boil and cover the area with a piece of cloth.
- Leave it on for at least 20 minutes.
- Repeat several times a day until the boil erupts and the pus drains out.
8. Apple Cider Vinegar
Another easy home treatment for a boil on the inner thigh is to apply apple cider vinegar. It acts as a natural antiseptic and has antimicrobial properties that help fight skin infections.
- Dilute some apple cider vinegar with water and use a cotton pad to apply it on the boil. Repeat several times a day until the boil opens up and drains.
- Alternatively, you can mix apple cider vinegar with an equal amount of honey and apply it on the affected area. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse the area with lukewarm water. Repeat at least twice daily.
9. Garlic
Garlic is one of the most effective home remedies for boils, thanks to its natural antibacterial properties. Garlic juice will help ripen the boil so it opens up and the pus drains out.
- Gently crush 2 to 3 garlic cloves to extract the juice. Use a cotton pad to apply the juice on the boil and leave it on for a few minutes. Repeat once or twice a day.
- You can also make a paste from garlic juice and turmeric powder and apply it on the boil. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. Repeat a few times a day. This will help control the infection and speed up the healing process.
10. Milk Cream
Milk cream is considered an excellent poultice for boils. It helps soften the surface of the boil so the head breaks and the pus flows out.
- Simply apply some fresh milk cream on the boil. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Repeat a few times daily until you are satisfied with the results.
- Another option is to mix together 1 teaspoon each of milk cream and white vinegar with some turmeric powder. Apply this paste on the affected skin. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. Repeat a few times a day. This will help speed up the healing process and reduce the chance of infection.
Remember, after you have treated the boil with any of these home remedies, it is essential to maintain hygiene and follow a good diet to prevent new boils from developing. If you have recurring boils, consult a doctor.
i hv’e been using hot water wit salt , the puss came out but its still hard inside nd still paining, much better than before, ,
I had a boil on my inner thigh about the size of a golf ball…lucky for me i was off work so i sure that sped up the process…i bought ointment at the local drug store walgreens etc…kept it on constantly as it relieved the rubbing and irritation…plus it supposedly slightly numbs the boil or abcess… but in my case i wasn’t sure because it hurt so bad by the time i applied it. I took baths as hot as i could stand it 3-4 times a day….really soothed the pain… and i took ibuprofen as well for swelling and pain..after about 3 days the abcess began to get really tight and instead of a large mound it became very pronounced like a little mountain about the diameter of a bottle cap…i was walking in the mall when i felt like i was sweating…so i go to the bathroom and check…. it popped…rushed home and soaked where it continued to drain for about an hr…kept it wrapped for the next 3 days…it really drained alot..sorry to be graphic…but i mashed the surrounding area while under water and it gushed out…by sat it was completely drained but swelling was still very visible…leg returned to normal in 2 weeks…pain pretty much stopped immediately the first night it drained….still tender but no where near the pain before…could barely put on pants…hope this helps….remember lots of soaking because the heat draws the infection to the surface…ibuprofen and then wait it out..it will pop…it has no where to go once it come to the surface…i didnt lance it or poke it…it came out on its own….hope this helps…..
When I first had these boils. I thought I had an std. worst worry ever. I have constant ones on my but cheeks only small like pimples. some on vagina. and recently hard ones that don’t pop on inner thigh. they feel like a part of my vien wants to grow out of my skin. weird shape. But I also have been researching gluten sensitivity. and these types of things occur as a symptom of gluten intolerance. How come they were never a problem before? well gluten insensitivity does not show itself until around 30’s and get progressively worse. Some are more susceptible to cancer as a result. gluten seems past intestinal wall into blood stream. your white blood cells mistakenly attack it like a virus, which is why cancer can sneak its way in. white blood cells can be distracted with a fake virus. I got my info from the book evil grains. And my brother has been diagnosed. It runs in families so I’m considering that I may have it. Does everyone here have low blood pressure and also iron deficiency? I haven’t started trying to eliminate gluten totally yet. But I’m being watchful of what happens after I eat. I also do not want cancer, it’s on both sides of my family. Anyone going through cancer now should try cutting gluten as part of their treatment. couldn’t hurt.
Hi! I’ve had similar issues – First I had a very painful one on my inner thigh and I’ve had some on my vagina as well (these seemed to fade away after a couple days by themselves though). I have iron deficiency and low blood pressure so it’s kind of relieving to see so may similarities. Guess I’ll start cutting gluten from now on!
*Also! I’ve found than putting anti-septic salve on and then covering it with a bandaid or something of the like helps to get rid of it faster (like a 2-5day process at most).
Thanks for sharing your experience. I have an abcess on my inner thigh. Overnight, it went from pea sized and not even painful, to a large grape size and painful as hell!! I will definitely be trying the remedies you say you did, and hopefully this thing will be gone soon. Again, thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day! 🙂
Best description, I am jumping on some routine today.
Use an exacto knife and stab it like a turkey until it drains.
This is a very bad idea! Haha! I’ve tried. Scars. Scars everywhere ㅠ.ㅠ
No no no! Please do not do this! You can make things exponentially worse!
This is insane . one must not do it cause its very painful and will remain be hard
I got cured form boils!
I had boils in the past and I did try all the home remedies and hot compress. But after they pop, they usually dry in 2 weeks and then come back again and again…
The only thing really worked for me was antibiotics. I don’t have healthy insurance, so I paid $150 to a Dermatologist (Dermatologist is the right doctor to treat boils) and the antibiotic only coast $17. I did spend away more money in home treatments and also did waist my time going to a gynecologist.
If you want try to cure the boil at home, or with antibiotics make sure you take C vitamin during all the process the process to keep your immune system stronger and after they pop or dry, take”A vitamin” to prevent they to come back. And take probiotics to keep the good bacteria in your body.
I hope it helps.
I think I hav a boil its on my inner thight I burst it & it bleed a little but its a hard knot inside of the skin please help it hurts 🙂
‘T
i too have the same problem. i notice it just two days ago big bean sized bump with red color and a white pinhead sized at the center really caused worry in me. i shy away even tell or show it to doctor since it is exactly in between inner tight and the vagina.
I’ll take a look for ya
Pla consult your ob or doctor its serious i got it too but im goingtoo seemy ob tomorrow 🙂
I am a 30 year old female. For the past 4 days I have been in excruciating pain from a boil located right to the left of my “u know what” towards my groin area. Wearing panties and pants is like hell!! I had a boil in the past located on the right side that I got lanced in the ER a couple of years ago. It was very embarrassing and sooo painful. This time I wanted to find some remedy I could do at home to get rid of it. My boil had grown to the size of a golf ball, maybe a little larger, and would not come to a head. I was getting very desperate and came close to just going to an urgent care clinic. I tried multiple remedies I found online to include, hot water, glass bottle, warm compress, salt, toothpaste, antibacterial soap, bactine, boil ease, baking powder, peroxide, oxypads, ….. I finally went to cvs and got some tea tree oil, ichtammol ointment, and adhesive gauze pads. I got home last night around 7pm, took a shower, and applied the tea tree oil then the ichtammol ointment. I covered it with a gauze pad and layed down. I couldn’t help but to keep checking it to see if it made progress….and nothing. It was still there and still hurting. I cleaned it, applied more tea tree oil and ichtammol ointment, and covered it with new gauze. I went to sleep around 10:30pm. I woke up around 3:30am this morning to use the bathroom and noticed that the gauze pad was coming off and filled with nasty goo. I peeled the gauze all the way off and say my boil draining. It was white and creamy with traces of blood. The pressure has definitely gone down but it still has a ways to go. I washed it and reapplied the tea tree oil and ichtammol ointment and clean gauze pad. It is now 6 am and it’s been 2 hours since I last dressed it and I’m in a lot lot lot less pain, thank God! I will wait until around 8 or 9am to check it and redress it. I’m feeling very good about this!! Thank u everyone for taking the time to post about this and help people like me out.
Thk you for sharing your story, I’m looking for a solution for the same thing this very moment. I going to try it 🙂
Mustard works great for boils!
it does?
I have a boil and it hurt wat to do
What you had is what is called a Barthlin cyst. I use to get them at least once a year or so. I feel for you! I missed sooo much work. I tried everything imaginable! I couldnt sit down etc. I tried HOT compresses, nothing. I finally bought a sitz bath and kept very hot water in it with Witch Hazel (which is an astringent) I also didnt want to go to the Dr bc I had to have one lanced before. So I put scalding compresses on it for about 30 minutes to at least get the skin soft, then I layed a piece of ice on the cyst and lanced it myself. The ice help numb it but it hurt like hell!! I woulnt recommend doing this yourself BUT, I had a sterile scalpel and it busted all over my bed but then I put the hot rag back on it then squeezed until the core came out which was about the size of a grape!! I thought I was going to pass out but I kept the erea VERY clean and covered until it healed and knock on wood I havent had one since then (about 13 years ago) If you dont get the core out, they will just keep coming back! Good luck.
Every summer I start to get a boil where my panties elastic rubs against my groin. Usually it goes away eventually but having retired I also a sitting more. A friend of mine owns a nutrition store and she was telling me how she used golden seed on her boil but said that tree tea oil should help. I need to do something just a wee bit scared. Anyone else use tree tea oil?
this has been a godsend..
Ladies…that area of your body sweats and your skin rubs together as you walk. This is what causes boils. Raw skin mixes with sweat. Same as inner thighs. So what I found helps prevent recurring boils is to use antiperspirant on those areas before walking or exercising.
Sounds like a Bartholin’s Gland Cyst
Take a laxative every six mouths and you will never get one again
I tried the compresses and onion remedy,
And it worked it very fast in fact.
Thank you God
Ya’ll try this it works
I have that same problem I’m to shy to show my doctor as it right near my vagina.
omg its soo bad.. I suggest to all of you to try the fast way…
I Tried the sulfur cream and it 100% help me feel relieved.
I went to the clinic 2 times for the same problem, but it kept coming back, however my girlfriend adviced me to check on the Internet for home Remedies, I found my self on this site. I tried several remedies like, onion and Compresses
It worked
Thank you Guys for your wonderful ideas
God bless you all Amen
I have this too. I get them when I wear tight jeans. I don’t think it’s a boil though
Eucalyptus oil works wonders with any kind of boil!
TRY HOT COMPRESSES AND THEN SOAK A COTTON BALL IN TEA TREE OIL AND APPLY TO BOIL, LEAVE ON OVERNIGHT, IN THE AM IT SHOULD BURST.
I tried that! The Tea Tree Oil hurt so bad I couldn’t get it off of me fast enough. I thought it was burning off my skin. I had to use cold compresses to relieve the pain. The boil felt good compared to the pain of the oil. I am now trying to determine what to do now. I may dilute the oil, I may just use ichthammol ointment, or I may attempt to just hot compresses. But Cat’s Claw to dull the pain before I try anything.
s
Pure tea tree oil should not be applied directly to the skin. You have to mix with a base oil….like olive oil.
Also petroleum jellie/Vaseline works to get rid of them
Go to the emergency room & they will put you in the fast track room they numb it with a pad solution kinda like oragel then they take everything out and give you antibiotic ointment then u go home and u just have to keep it clean by putting fresh gause & ointment on it and then it heals up. Afterwards there might be a small dark spot on the skin where the boil was.
Never puncture a boil it only gets worse
I have had one before and I didn’t know what to do. It got as big as a golf ball. I ended up popping it with a needle. The spot where it was never grew hair again and it never came back.
I have a spot on my bend of my leg in back at my knee. Ive been mashing bloody watery infection out of it n last night i gave it one big mash n what looked like to be infection eggs came out there is still bloody watery infection coming out of it what do i do?
i also have been suffering from this problem for 3 years now,i always seem to have them in my inner thigh and buttocks, they produce black scars after they heal. They are painful but there is a name for it called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. doctors seem anable to cure them only these home remedies, from people ive talked to seem to work, so im going to try them and hopefully get rid of em
I have been dealing with painful boils for at least 10 years. First it was on my buttocks, for the past 4 years I have been getting them on my upper thigh. I used to go to the doctor and they would lance it which would hurt horribly and then they would always come back. The doctors don’t know how to prevent them. I would rather try these home remedies than to have the doctor lance it.
I had one in buttocks lanced. ER Doctor say have something called a
track and would have to have surgery to get track removed and
until then will always come back.
try correcting you ph . if you got acid in your system it messes up the whole body. 7.35 to 7.45 if lower start eating the right things, leave coffee pop tea alone and all fast foods.. Eat lots of salad lettuce tomatoes cucumbers cabbage balance your meal out. Boils & cancer are cause by acid system. Get a ph test .I am 74 now going thru the same thing on back of hand .been eating fast foods ,lots of meat ,try this over 60 take 1/2 teaspoon of backing soda 4 times a day ,but get ph test first.8 if under 60 mix well with water.hope this helps
Thank you for the name of the disease. I’ve had it for many years and no dr. has been able to tell me what it is. I will try some of the home remedies listed. So far I’ve just done baths with epsom salt, antibiotics, and topicals.
I have hydranitis for years! This is a blocking of the sweat glands. Any deodorant that leaves a white film or baby powder can do this! You can get it in your groin or drmpits. I had to have 6 surgeries and my sweat glands removed in my armpits! My dermatologist found it and a plastic surgeon had to reconstruct my armpits!
I also have been diagnosed with this and have found that drinking a mixture of 1 tsp of turmeric (from the regular spice section of the grocery store) with about a half cup of water once a day, when I feel it coming on, stops it,
Within a day or two. Also I need to wear fabrics that breathe. Only cotton in the summer months. Any pant with any spandex or rayon doesn’t work for me.
I tried the onions and it worked perfectly and took away a great deal of the pain.
I just got my first boil. I went to my mom, she told me to soak in hot water with ephsalt. Then peel the thin layer from the insde of an eggshell, some aloe from her aloe plant, apply it to the area, and the cover it with a bandaid. When I woke up the boil burst and the pain was gone.
JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW SOAKING IN THE HOT WATER WITH THE EMPSOM SALTS REALLY DOES GIVE YOU SOME RELIFE! IT BUST MY BOIL ALOT OF SKIN CAME OFF IN THE TUB THAT WAS SCARY BUT I HAD RELIFE AND I USE SOME BENZOCAINE OINTMENT AND TRULY THAT WAS GOOD FOR ME AND I CAN SLEEP.
Wow!!! Swelling disappeared this morning using onions. I put onions and covered with big bandage. I used the one that I bought in Walgreens. It’s the big one that you use when showering. I left it on my boil overnight swelling 95% is all gone but the boil still there. At least, I can walk now and feel definitely better. I had this swelling for almost a week until I used the onion remedy. The only thing is you will smell the onion inside the sheets. Just keep your head outside of it lol. But definitely worth all that smell as I feel better this morning. I don’t mind the smell as I love cooking.
By the way, NO I didn’t change the onion every 3 hours. I left the same one overnight and worked very well. I will definitely try this next time when I have a swollen bruise.
i had boil near annus .I got operated in the year1976.It got recurred after 6months.instead of getting operated I got it treated by a Homeopath ,who gave 2 doses of homeopathy medicines (CALARIUM FLOUR) and it never occured till date.
Ive had my boil on my inner thigh for Five days now. I used Prid two days ago and it poppef 17 hours later. Now it only bleeds amd pusses a little at a time and is still red and huge. I stupidly used the shower head to remove the bandaid and ended up removing a quarter size of.skin .very painful and i want to shower but dont know what soap is okay tp use. Please help ASAP
Hemroid cream works fast and fabulously to remove painful boils on inner thigh
Wow. All info was great. The only difference is I don’t experience pain at all. Never have for maybe 4 years to date. Just very noticeable and sometimes embarrassing.
I have a boils on each of my fingertips and 13 around both of my anuses. I asked a meowing giraffe to fart on my left nostril and me boils flew away, right through the wall, through a passing car, and into the mailbox of the guy across the street. He then checked his mail and was delighted, and proceeded to call his neighbors to invite over for a barbecue.
now that was funny!!!!!!!!!!!!! can i get more of the story?
just read this with my gf she pissed her self laughing
Lmao… I’m crying with laughter right now. OMG bol!!!!
You should see a head Dr!!
You are one sick puppy. Get treatment immediately!
In india we get a blood purifying tonic called safi. Its very helpful in cleansing ur system from inside so dat these boils dont reoccur
I have a boil for 2 weeks on my inner leg, but the pain last night was killing me. I couldn’t sleep. I washed it with antibacterial soap and applied solid coconut oil on it and calm down so that I can sleep.
I have a boil baking on my inner left thigh there is no head yet a lil painful to the touch but is huge mad cuz I know it’s gonna leave a scar 🙁 does all urs leave scares as well?
I wrap towel around hot water bottle for at least an hour and put on the boil. I then put cortisone cream on gauze and place on boil. This relieves pain and helps heal faster and leaves no scars.
I keept getting boils at regular intervels, but from past few months no trouble at all. Main reason is from few months I started eating raisins ( kishmish in india.) Eat daily 10 to 15 pieces early morning empty stomach. It helped me a lot.
After reading this article i immediately tried the trick with the garlic. I had a big jar of diced garlic that comes in its own juice so i just used that on a cotton gauze and not even 2 minutes later of applying it i could feel that the boil was not as swollen and the gauze was covered in blood. Really gross! Im going to apply a new gauze overnight and hope its gone by morning. This is the 2nd time i got a boil but the first was over 10 years ago. I have been eating better lately but exercising a lot so i think that has something to do with it. For now on i am going to immediately shower and change out of my gym clothes after a workout. Last sat i worked out two hours and then went and ran errands. I started feeling the boil on sunday so i am pretty certain that had to do it. I learne my lesson! The pain is excrutiating!! I thought i was going to have to go to the ER tomm. So glad i read this article! Very helpful!
Yep. I got one today and worked out hard yesterday without having time to shower afterwards.
Definitely a correlation.
I’ve been getting boils on my inner thighs since I was 18yrs old. There very painful and they leave marks. I hate my inner thighs.
I’ve been having boils for about ten years and I heard about Emuaid first aid ointment. So I decided to try it because nothing else worked. It not only took the pain away immediatly but it open it up and soften the hardest in just a few hours. Within 2 day that huge boil was shrinking and drying out and after a few days its was almost healed and really didn’t leave any scars. I love this product because I also use it to work out and it prevent any further imflammation while sweating. Emuaid is like a miracle in a bottle. Boils are very painful this product I feel is the best thing ever. No more trips to the doctors.
where do you get it???
U got to squeeze the cork out ….its a yellow strink of puss
omg, did you sat squeeze. It hurts to walk, wear pantey”s soaking and hot water bottles all I can handle…..the pain
I’ve been getting them since i was 15 its really annoying and i hate the way my inner thighs look ill have to try some of these remedies
I read recently there is a name for the “boil” or type of boil I get. I only get them when I wore panties around the elastic leg hole. I was doing fine. Started wearing again and here I sit with same problem. Dr has given me creme anti biotic and taken 2 rounds of pills. It seems to be flat then fills up. – thought about hot packs but I do not want to provoke bleeding – it spots now and then the after about 5 days it releases everything
My mom always had success with using the onion, but she sauteed them first. Use water then drain/then . Wrap in a damp/wet rag then place on your boil. My moms boil always busted quickly.
I’ve been suffering greatly from boils/cysts for at least 6-8yrs. Its called hidrodentisis suprativa. Some people get it worse then others. If you are overweight or wear tight clothing you are at most risk. Its a chronic disease that will not go away. It can only be treated by your doctors. I get severe infections every time a cyst reoccurs and doctors put me on anti biotics. Yea antibiotics will rid me of the infection most of the time but these cysts just constantly reoccur. I get them worse in the winter months which my doctors find hard to believe. They say most cases occur in hot n humid environment not for me. I am due for a experimental surgery with a plastic surgeon soon. Basically the condition wrecked my social life. I don’t go out because I am in pain. I don’t pursue a gf because who wants to see infected pus n blood leaking boils on someone’s waist thighs or butt. This condition F***ed me up the ass n made me extremely depressed.
I’m in the er feeling the same way I have the same skin disease it’s so embarrassing and your right makes you not wanna be around anyone…..
i suffer fro this too! it is awful!
Eric i feel your pain, iv had it 10 years too and find it very depressing…. iv been so upset about this it makes me feel gross… 🙁
You got it dude!
The state of your ‘waist, thighs and buttocks’ shouldn’t effect your social life. Theres always a reason why things are the way they are, and maybe this is preserving you from somthing worse that could’ve happened instead… “chin up-chin up!” Now do some of these treatments and we’ll see each other on the other side bro-!
yer-‘cysta’-in-crime
(cysta…like sista…ha)
ERIC….TRY HOT COMPRESSES AND THEN SOAK A COTTON BALL IN TEA TREE OIL, LEAVEON OVERNIGHT, BOIL/CYST SHOULD BURST IN AM. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A FEW DAYS TO BURST TO THE POINT THAT THE YELLOW STRING (WHICH IS THE ROOT) COMES OUT. ONLY WHEN THE ROOT COMES OUT WILL IT STOP COMING BACK. IN THE MEANTIME AFTER THE BOIL B URSTS, KEEP USING THE TREE TEA OIL TO KEEP INFECTION AWAY. YOU CAN DILUTE TREE TEA OIL WITH WATER
Thanks to all these comments I think my boil will be gone by tomorrow. I kept calling it a pimple. I can even lay down comfortably without me hurting myself. OUCH!
i have tried every one of the above and none of them worked.. i have had this problem for a few years now.. well, 2 weeks ago, i came across an article about DEODORANT! i have been using dove deodorant on my inner thighs since that day and now my boils are almost totally gone.. i use it 3-4 times a day, if im gonna be outside in the heat, i put on more..im not saying use Dove, im saying trying some stick deodorant, see if it works for u..
I get boil on my inner thigh and I use bacon or salt pork and lay it there
And it would bust just hate to waste food but don’t want that pain
Ya I know I’m a little young but I’m 13 yrs old and about to be 14 and I have noticed this huge lumpy bumpish thing under my skin near my private area like on my inner thigh…. And I really first noticed this as a simple pimple but I told my mom and she said it was nothing and she said to apply a dot of acne cream and this was at the middle of July and I grew reallllly scared it seemed as if I moved down the v line of my private are on my upper inner thigh and now it’s like a little smaller than a normal sized grape and I’m scared I know it sounds scary but I feel like it’s a cancer tumor or something and I did my research and I narrowed it down as the worlds largest pimple, sebaceous cyst or a boil that bothers me when I wear underwear which of course I do but I’m really scared to go to my doctor BECAUSE MY DAD IS MY DOCTOR!!!!!!!! my lump is now a purplish reddish huge lump under my skin it used to have a pimplish white thing on top that used to ooze pus and tiny dots of blood when I would sit down but that was in July now it’s august and about to be school time in less than two weeks and idk what to do and I’m about to do the water thing but the thing is our faucet water is really salty and I was wandering if I could use that for warm salt water and I have a question WHERE DOES THE BOIL GO DOES IT DISOLVE UNDER UR SKIN CAUSE I REALLLLLY DONT WANT TO PAY A VISIT TO MY DAD THAT IS MY DOCTOR and soooooo plz help I’m worried!!!
ali it’s inappropriate for your dad to be your doctor, tell him you want a female doctor who ISNT RELATED..that is perfectly reasonable
I had two around my bikini line area. Purple lumps that ozzed when I sat down. I got sick of it & tried to just squeeze it all out. They just got bigger. I too didnt tell any one. They were painful. Every time a little head popped up Id squeeze it out till the blood came. So dont try that. I used any moisturizer or antiseptic cream, baby oil (I always moisturize any way) The lumps didnt go away until I stopped squeezing. To this day 8 years later I can see purple scars one less noticable then the other. They arnt hard, the lumps are gone, they dont puss up.
Try treating it with lemon juice or Pour some salt in a cup n mix in warm water stir until the salt is dissolved and clean & treat wipe over it with cotton bud/cotton wool clean tissues. But If its puszy bleeding or open only wipe it once toss the tissue or whatever u use and wipe again with fresh clean cotton bud ect.
I dont know what it was so if u do find out please let me know 🙂
Go see a doc immediatly ive lived with this for so long antibiotic s will not work for me anymore you still have a chance to rid them from your life forever
I have lots of them on my thighs and under arms. My doctor told me it could be caused by the staph I carry on my skin. Everyone has staph, but some people carry more which means you’re more prone to “infections” and things such as these. I’ve been using a skin cleanser called hibiclens and these are disappearing. I noticed a change after the first time I used it. You can buy it at walmart. It’s usually always located in the first aid aisle, and it’s in a little blue bottle. I believe it’s like $6. You don’t use a lot, but make sure you use an oofa sponge or pad when you wash with it. I LOVE this stuff.
Take a leaf of hibiscus and heat it a little on a pan, apply tea tree or coconut oil and cover the leaf on the wound and tie it, you can also try crushing hibiscus flower and apply on the boil and cover and leave overnight. Great indian remedy for bringing the pus out rather than letting it dry inside. The boil will mature and the pus will be out in few days.

Your dad will understand the sensitive matter.
It would be ok to ask him to see a lady dr for this problem.
My guess is an ingrown hair that will need to be removed.
Young ladies your age, although very smart should not be self treating.
Good luck.
I am 22 yrs old and I have been getting boils since I was 14,, I have one right now its the size of a soft ball,, them thanks hurt more than anything ever,, when people ask me what it feels like I tell them its like havin a baby out the side of your leg!!!!!!!!!
I get these nasties in the groin area and sometimes buttocks, and the only thing that works for me (without the embarrassment of going to the doctor) is to drink a mix of a tablespoon of turmeric in 1/2 cup warm water 2 or 3 times a day. If the boil’s really bad, you’ll have to take the drink often or more- though it is constipating, that’s only temporary and you should feel some relief in pain when you take this drink within a day. Take a hot shower at the end of the day and beginning of the day also to clean the area, and I put strong tea tree oil on the pad part of a new, large bandage which I put over the boil. I also drink pure cranberry juice, usually 2 cups, and eat 1 cup of plain yogurt. When you work from the inside of the body out, I find this helps quite a bit- but you still have to treat the boil topically- shower, polysporin or tea tree oil, clean bandage, clean underwear. Hope this helps.
Hi…..everyone.. go chemist and explain you have a boil and the will give you a paste,, it’s comes in small tub it draws the stuff out from your skin to the surface and then it starts to come out . Also get pads from chemist to keep the boil covered keeping it clean. I just put loads of the paste on covered it up. Started using it Friday and today is Sunday and it’s worked. A lot of stuff has came out today and what a relief☺
Ive suffered from boils for a long time now both groin and inner thighs best solution to get rid of them fast and simple..apply shaving cream to the boils cover with tissue and gladwrap (if on inner thigh) and leave overnight by next morning it will dramatically decrease in size
I hate boils, because I get them in the most weirdest places. Also my Mum always wants me to go to the doctor and its very embarrassing having to show them. I’m using the onion right now and the pain has definitely gone down. Thanks for the remedies and I really enjoy reading the comments…
Looking for a ‘cure’ for what I believe was a boil on my inner thigh, I looked at this page. I used Vick’s Vapor rub on a cotton pad (like what you use to take eye makeup off), taped it in place with stretchy, sticks to itself ‘tape’, place a moist washcloth on top of that, a dry one on top of that, then a heating pad in place. I put the heating pad on low, locked it in place with a pillow. The next morning it FINALLY opened up and drained. I noticed a hole at the center. I put raw honey on a clean cotton pad, taped it in place throughout the day. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I hope this helps someone. Moist heat is the ticket. I believe the menthol in the Vick’s Vapor Rub helped, too.
Sheer butter is very good for boils too.
I had one under my left arm it hurt really bad.. i couldn’t sleep on my left side..it hurt to the touch. So i had to go get it out ..the Doctor told before he was going to hurt so get ready i told him i would try …but it didn’t work i blessed him out …it hurt so bad …But when he got all the stuff out of there it started feeling better the next day..i had to go and have the stuffing pulled out, after that it started feeling alot better, I told myself if i ever get another one i won’t go back to the doctor….I will have to wait and see if it happens again..It really is a painful thing to live with….i will keep y’all in my thoughts & prayers ….Good Luck to all of you !!
Used the onion and it seemed to work like a charm. within 20 mins of leaving the onion it popped and the puss came out. Cleaned it up and wrapped tissue around it for the rest of the puss to leak out.
This is the most painful thing I have experienced twice. When it comes to drain after a week or 8 days , bleeding was running down my legs. It is so painful a condition that I wish nobody would ever have experienced it.
Hopely nobody ever does
Hi, please mix detergent soap with 1 spoon of sugar and required water.make a smooth paste. Apply on the affected areas.. you will get relief from heat boils within half an hour.. apply this till the boils vanishes. It worked for me..
Check your blood type – notice what you’re eating and there may be a connection.
I’m type O Positive and I was consuming Avocados and pistachios for years and had these nasty bumps/boils on my buttock, inner thighs, trunk area and also behind my ears. For years dealing with them until someone told me to check my blood type. BINGO – was the exact thing that was causing them. As soon as I stop eating avocados and pistachios they all went away, completely. Has been amazing to be honest. Now I’m onto cutting out Gluten. Just amazing.
Thanks good to know bc i have been eating alot of avocado
Amazing article yesterday I was in big pain seen the comments did onion slice thing…..morning it burst automatically without any pain it’s amazing that is for such beautiful articles and comment
That hot compress trick really worked i had one on my thigh and i put it on it was gone with in a hafe and hour. I then took a warm bath and put some neosporin on it and its soooooo much better thank you so much for this i would have never known what to do. ^-^
I have been using the warm compresses, wash cloth and warm water. Yes it brought it to a head. It do start draining like the article said. Better have a high level to pain. Next time I go to the dr. Get it cut, and get an antibiotic. I’m usually not a baby to pain, but this brought tears to my eyes
I get them occasionally on my inner thigh, but usually on my back. Like most they are very painful. I just make a paste with baking soda and warm water. I apply the paste and put a gauze pad over it. I replace it twice a day until it’s gone. I do think it’s strange that it always comes in the same spot every time. I guess it’s already damaged or weakened from before. In doing this research, I am going to try the coconut oil pull. It is suppose to draw all the toxins from your body. Helps ur teeth, gums, skin and headaches, also energy booster. If I can control the gagging. ..I’m hoping it will work. With all the stress over the past 2 yrs, it has really taken a toll on my body. Wish me luck!
The boils are coming back in the same spots because even though the swelling is going down, the original cause is still under the skin. If it’s a regular boil or cyst, caused by an irritation under the skin, it gets big, red, and puffy because it’s developed an infection. Just like if you get a cut and some dirt gets under the skin, the area will swell up and form a pocket beneath the skin that will fill with fluid (the watery blood and puss).
The water and blood is because your body is trying to separate what’s causing the irritation from itself, like an oyster wraps the pearl around the grain of sand in its shell to project it’s delicate body. If your body can’t get rid of what’s irritating it (dirt, germs, or even a chemical irritation from food or other sources) the swelling and fluid continue to build up, which can lead to an infection. The height of the infection is when the boil swells up the largest and the puss moves towards the surface of the skin- when it forms the white head.
If you’re getting the water/blood out, but not cleaning out all of the puss, or the original thing causing the irritation, it’s going to keep happening again after your body has a chance to become irritated by the cause again. Getting the blood and water out will reduce the swelling in the area, but doesn’t stop the boil from forming again if you don’t get it ALL out.
Some home remedies work for some people, and some don’t- you won’t know until you try it, but you should always consult your doctor about it- even though it can be embarrassing. Persistent problems might be a sign of a more serious issue, or it might just be that your underwear leg hole is rubbing you the wrong way- but you won’t know unless you ask a trained medical professional. If you’re not comfortable asking your current doctor then find one you do trust and can talk to. Your health is important;you only have one body- take care of it!
Oh, I forgot to say, while it might hurt to have it lanced or healed, it has to be done. If it’s not taken care of completely, and correctly, it will keep coming back. There are a lot of different causes of these things, some are easy to care for, (removing the infection and the cause, while keeping it clean after), while others can be caused by genetic issues or diseases; they’re all painful to be dealt with, but it’s got to be treated or something worse can happen. I wish you good luck and fast healing! 🙂
I got boils on my butt all the time when I was younger and it hurt like hell! My mom tried all types of stuff to get it to burst but nothing happened so she took me to the ER and the doctor can in and I was laying on my stomach and before he even started talking he popped it with this needle it was the worst pain EVER! Didn’t numb it or anything! Now I have one on my inner thigh and I can’t even walk! I’m going to try the tea tree oil hopefully that helps!
Owh my God my boil just got drained! I have dis naughty annoying boil under my thigh,I couldn’t sit nor drive even d way I walk was so frustrating, I just used hot water on it yesterday and today pain is gone! Wowh I hate boils experience.
I’ve been getting boils for the past two years ongoing. I’ll get them for a week it’ll go away and it’ll come right back nonstop I’ve been to the doctor and to a dermatologist they gave me antibiotics nothing seems to be working I’m going to go try these home remedies as far as onions and warm compresses. I’ve also been getting them underneath my breast in between my inner thigh and under my armpit the ones in between my inner thighs are the most painful… I’ve been getting on going yeast infections every time I get a boil. Its been this way for 2 straight years now. Me and my boyfriend are nearly having sex due to this problem. Not sure what to do anymore. I’ve been to my doctors and she has ran several test on me and she can’t never find a issue on why I’m getting boils. Every time I get a boil, I’ll get a yeast infection. ??
My son has one. Tea tree and lavender essential oils have brought relief from pain.
I have one right now and I really don’t wanna go to the Dr. I am going to try some of these home remedies first! Just worried cuz last time one got this bad I was hospitalised for 2 days and then had a picc line and had to run my own iv antibiotics at home for 2 weeks. They were even talking about how I could lose my leg because the infection was so bad and it kept spreading. Hopefully I can get some relief without the help of a doctor
I suffered from boils until 2011 when one almost killed me. Got one on my upper thigh and it turned septic and I ended up with Toxic Shock Syndrome. Thankfully, a friend on a different forum that I go to for lymphoma was a naturopath in Australia. He recommended me take a good vitamin B complex vitamin and I swear, I have had less than 2 boils (and they were very small ones) since I started taking these vitamins. It WORKS!!! It would be well worth a try if you really suffer from them. I am so thankful that he suggested this as it really did work for me.
Thanks my little brother has one.
I had one when I was 16. My mom cut the end off a potato and taped it over the boil. They were gone next day, but have scars
I’ve suffered these for 20 yrs 🙁 was diagnosed as hidradinitis suppurativa …. it’s a horrid condition….. on long term antibiotics and have creams but if it wants to flare up it will… no reason, nothing I do or do do helps! I feel your pain
I’m not a female, but I have suffered from this misery for years. I have had many cut out by the docs, (on my neck, back, between my legs). I can have one between either leg at any time. It doesn’t seem that it’s a heredity issue. I have lanced many myself with success, (just keep it sanitized afterwards). They leave purplish marks forever. The one that was removed from my neck left a scar that looks like a gunshot wound. If I ever figure out what causes them, I will share it with you all. How ever your home remedies do give me more options to try after the fact. Good luck to us all!
I have had these off and on for years. I am now taking vitamin A supplement and have never had another episode since. Taking one capsule a day is a pretty easy way to prevent these painful boils. As a teenager I had acne on my upper arms and back for years. Once I found out it was because of a deficiency of vitamin A, the condition cleared up within weeks!
My daughter turned 15 and was immediately met with acne on her face and back that progressively got worse. We started treating it with homeopathic remedies. That seemed to keep it in check but didn’t heal it. The acne was severe and we learned it had a name – cystic acne. The medical options had adverse side affects – so just continued the cleaning and supplement regimen to keep it under control. Two years later she was 17, she had her first boil in her groin area. We had no idea what it was – actually thought it was an ingrown hair and so we treated it as such. Then she began to get one after another. I googled, I questioned friends and family. We adjusted her supplements, thinking perhaps it was tied to the cystic acne – adding coconut oil, Spirulina and Chlorella as well as probiotics. Sometimes she would get through a couple of weeks without any boils – then to have them back to back. She was so embarrassed and overwhelmed. Then came the rashes. Rashes like what infants get with diaper rashes – on her privates and her female areas. She was miserable. Boils & Rashes! Rashes and Boils!
Our family is on a budget and cannot afford huge medical bills. In February of 2017, I cried out to God for answers. That very night – He graciously helped me find the right combination of words in google. I’d been trying different combinations of words for the last 2 years! I saw a correlation between her cycle and the frequency of the boils – so I googled “boils and rashes that pop up in groin area during a woman’s menstrual cycle” – I found the name – Hidradenitis suppurativa. Coincidence or not (NOT!) – I had an answer. As I read article after article and blog after blog, I shook my head. As I looked at the photos – I had an answer! My daughter had an answer!
We began reading about treatments. What we kept seeing was that DIET played a huge part in the answer. That was 7 months ago that we began. I am happy to say that my darling daughter has gone 3 months without a single boil. And we discovered what triggered the rash. And we have seen the cystic acne on her face and back clear up!
This is her protocol that works for her. We have read many who write that everyone’s journey and recovery is their own and unique. That is the truth! Keep searching, (keep praying), keep experimenting until you too are free from boils, rashes, acne and HS! My daughter now follows the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol – Paleo) diet. She did elimination diet slowly, from February to June. I will list in order what she eliminated. ALL of these foods triggered either boils or rashes!
No gluten, no corn, no grains (except brown rice she can eat), no almonds, cashews, pistachios, no dairy, no legumes, no nightshades at all (no white potatoes, no tomatoes, no peppers, no eggplants, no paprika, no cumin, no cayenne, no chili powder). AND for her the most important one to avoid – ALL sugars! For sweeteners she can do pure raw honey, pure maple syrup and stevia in moderation – but that is ALL. If she has something that has a hidden sugar she will get a rash.
As she got the boils at the beginning – we treated by washing the area, doing apple cider and Epsom salt baths and keeping colloidal silver and tea tree oil on the wound. That helped them from becoming infected.
And one more thing – she always had sensitive skin. She has always been allergic to avocado oil lotions and perfumed lotions. We also knew she was allergic to latex – we found out when she was little with Band-Aid reactions. But we discovered this summer that she is allergic to feminine hygiene products which was triggering rashes during her cycle. She purchased Thinx period panties – and she used them for her cycle and that was the first time she did not get a rash during her period.
For such a long time she was so devastated by an unknown illness. Then shocked to find out what it was but scared when she read that she would suffer from it forever! But we kept praying and searching and now she is on a journey to healing!
I have a few spots on my inner thigh that became darker than my regular skin tone after I got pregnant. I thought it would go away after giving birth but it did not. Decided to give dermalmd lightening serum a try. I’ve only been using it for a little over a week. So not too much difference is noticible yet as it says it takes at least a month to see a difference. I read some of the other reviews about reactions developing and I can say I have not developed any negative reaction to dermalmd serum and I have extremely sensitive skin. I’m really hoping that this dark patch lightens up after prolonged use.
